Dear Friend of Hollywood Arts,
My name is Dylan Kendall and most of you know me as the woman behind Hollywood Arts. Today, I'd like to share something more personal with you.
I know that the arts can save the lives of the young people living on the streets of Hollywood.
How do I know this?
The arts saved my life.
I used the arts to help me get through some tough times.
Fifteen years later I returned to Hollywood to bring classes in the arts to the young people who call the streets of Hollywood home.
I returned armed with the knowledge that most of the young people on the streets have suffered emotional pain through family abandonment, physical abuse and social rejection that undermines the most important belief we must all have to live happy lives: the belief in ourselves and that we matter.
Why the arts?
The arts help process emotional pain and provide validation.
The arts create supportive communities.
The arts teach life skills.
The arts teach job skills.
The arts industries are a job bank.
In a few months, we will launch the Build to Learn campaign. Why not consider helping us start the campaign a little earlier?
We have a goal to raise $25,000 to kick off the campaign in gifts of $50 to $500 and as a supporter of Hollywood Arts, you can help. Click here to contribute to the campaign. Click here because you remember what it was like to be a teenager and how much harder it would have been without family.
Thank you.
Dylan Kendall
