Dear friend of Hollywood Arts,
td> | | We have great news!
In under 8
months, we have over 120 young people
enrolled and now offer 15 classes a week.
However, we are most proud of the three
students we just enrolled at Los
Angeles City College! We'd
love for you to meet them here and
congratulate them with us.

We were also featured on KNBC Nightly News
thanks to Cary Berglund and Ken Turner!
Watch us on TV!
And we'd like to thank:
Steve Vai and Elizabeth Levitt Hirsch; Warner
Brothers (entertainment arts); Kaiser
Permanente (music);
Bank of
America (teachers), the Hollywood Chamber of
Commerce
(school equipment); Smashbox
Studios (studio tours); and Final Draft

I want to go to college to prove to myself
and any other young adults that you can
accomplish anything that you put your heart
and mind into. But you can't give 90% you
must put 100% of your effort in order to
succeed.
Today our economy is suffering tremendously,
with few jobs available for the less
fortunate and under-educated. I'm attending
college so I can excel, and not become
trapped living a life that I'm not satisfied
with.

Recently, a door opened to me that I thought
would remained locked in my life--the door to
college. As a transgender, I was sure that I
would end up another statistic,
either homeless, a prostitute, or
hooked on drugs. I was afraid of trying to
get into college because of finances and
discrimination against transgender women, so
while I fought hard not to end up on the
streets I wasn't sure how I would
have a career.
Now with Hollywood Arts help and guidance I'm
positive and hopeful about building a good
future for myself. Thank you to all those who
contribute to our education, you have
definitely changed my life.

I'm so excited to be attending college again.
Since I left school in December 2005 my life
has been a "roller coaster." I would like to
thank Hollywood Arts for helping me get back
in touch with my artistic capabilities and
helping me hone my acting skills. If
Hollywood Arts could affect me in this type
of way then attending college will affect me
the same way.
I'm ready to jump back on the college
bandwagon and I will ride it to the wheels
fall off.

| Transition to College Program |
 |
|
We are honored to play a role in helping
young people without family and other
resources have the chance to realize their
dreams and change their lives.
For most of our students the idea that they
could attend college seems impossible. They
cannot see themselves at college,
they lack confidence in their
intelligence, and the process--from applying
to attending--is overwhelming. But, with
support, many would jump
at the opportunity.
For as little as $1,600 you can send a young
person to two years of community college and
jump start their future. We take care of
everything else from
registration to study mentors.
Please join our
Transition to College program
and
provide or contribute to a
scholarship for a homeless young person who
wants to
go to college.
