College bound...and creating a new life
Dear Friend of Hollywood Arts,

Two years ago, founders of Hollywood Arts saw a need to help young people on the streets who had aged out of youth programs and foster care and who were being moved into the adult welfare system without the opportunity to develop emotionally and intellectually. Over 18, on the streets, and without any family, most of these young people would slip through the cracks...ending up chronically homeless or in jail.

Hollywood Arts was created as a unique space for these young people to grow--to change how they see themselves through the experience of the creative process and to develop new thinking skills that would help them change their own lives.

What didn't we envision? College! Imagine our surprise when 25-year-old Josh Brandy asked for our help with college. Excited by the classes he was taking at Hollywood Arts, he announced that he was ready to go to college. Now 8 students later Hollywood Arts is proud to announce the launch of our Transition to College program which helps homeless young people understand, tackle and master the college experience. We offer a $1,000 scholarship, help with financial aid, buy books and provide tutors.

Meet five of our college students below. I hope you'll agree that with our help and a college education they will be able to change their own lives.

Every day Hollywood Arts meets young people with dreams....dreams that keep them alive as they struggle daily to live. Dreams that, with our help and with an education, can be reached. Help a young person go to college.

Thank you,

Dylan Kendall
